The Gesaeuse National Park would very much like to invite you to discover the hidden secrets of nature and to find peace and relaxation in this wonderful landscape.
There are a lot of activities guided by well trained National Park rangers. The Gesaeuse National Park provides a extensive summer and winter program for everyone. Please take a look at the german program-folders!
To ensure that contacts between guests and the protected natural environment can be harmonious and appropriate, we ask you kindly to observe and respect the following rules:
This is a breath-taking natural landscape. Please do not spoil it by leaving rubbish behind you. The next guests who come along - as well as the fauna and flora - will thank you for this.
Please avoid making an unnecessary amount of noise. We would like to be able to offer people looking for relaxation - and our own wildlife - a maximum of peace and quality of life.
Please avoid any kind of disturbance or destruction of habitats, nesting sites or breeding grounds. One of the priorities of a National Park is safeguarding the habitats of endangered animals and plants that are increasingly under threat from mankind.
Taking away any kind of natural material, such as flowers, shrubs, minerals or fossils is prohibited. Please do not disturb the sensitive balance of nature, but allow your fellow human beings to enjoy nature undamaged and in all its immense diversity of species.
Please keep to the marked paths. 'Short-cuts' increase erosion and so destroy the landscape.
Please keep off the wetlands as well as the gravel banks alongside the rivers and streams. Amongst other things, these sensitive habitats are important breeding areas for such endangered species of birds as the sandpiper.
The riding of bicycles is allowed and encouraged on the 'Hochscheibenalm' mountain bike route, but not on other forest paths. So as not to disturb wildlife or endanger walkers, please do not use bicycles, other than on public roads, anywhere else in the National Park.
As in all Austrian forests, lighting fires is prohibited for safety reasons.
The use of motorised vehicles other than on public roads is prohibited. Please park your vehicle at the marked car parks. If possible, use public transport for both your arrival and departure.

The use of motorboats is not allowed on any of the National Park's water features.
Many thanks!
By your co-operation, you help us to safeguard the Gesaeuse for the coming generations as a unique natural and cultural environment.
