The "Lettmair Au" trail

Der Themenweg „Lettmair Au“ entführt Sie in die faszinierende Vielfalt eines Auwaldes inmitten des Nationalparks GesäuseThe Lettmair Au trail offers visitors an experience for all the senses and a humorous approach to learning. The trail takes you into a fascinating riparian world, with spectacular discovery stations that let you explore the landscape in surprising ways. This is a trail that turns curiosity into scientific detection; where nature reveals the answers to riddles, yet still keeps secrets. An ideal location for training the senses.

What do common sandpipers and tamarisk shrubs have in common?

Der Wasser-Spieltisch ist ein Anziehungspunkt für die ganze FamilieThey both live in a habitat that is more at risk today that at any time in the past: unregulated, natural rivers and streams. These are also the lifelines of our landscape! In the Gesäuse National Park you can still find the last remaining natural sections of what was once one of Austria's most impressive rivers: the Enns.

Use a giant modelling table to recreate river systems: fetch water and let it run through narrow rock canyons, or between soft areas of rubble, and learn about the dynamics of rivers and streams in ways that will capture the imagination. Then, sitting comfortably on the bench under the old beech tree, you can choose whether to meditate with Vivaldi's Four Seasons playing in the background, or take an active part in shaping the story that the beech tree tells about the Lettmair Au trail. There is also a journey through the seasons and a station on deadwood.
