The National Park's department of nature conservation & research has the important task of promoting the "rewilding" of the National Park and of documenting the success of the measures undertaken. Long-term developments in unaffected natural areas need to be monitored in order to glean information for practice. Networking with partners in the region and with national and international players is essential for the success of the project. The work is supported by funding from the European Commission.
The LIFE Project in the Gesäuse National Park was an important stimulus for nature conservation measures both in the National Park and "Ennstaler Alpen/Gesäuse" NATURA 2000 site and in the adjoining "Pürgschachen Moos" site along the Enns between Selzthal and the entrance to the Gesäuse.
