Completed in 2005, the National Park Pavilion is conveniently located on the Ennstalbundesstrasse (federal road B 320), just a 5-minute walk from Gstatterboden station and the popular nearby Forstgarten camp site. It is the starting point for numerous walks (Ennstalerhütte and Buchsteinhaus alpine huts, guided tours). It is also a popular destination for a hearty meal before or after the Hochscheiben mountain bike trail. The pavilion houses an interactive geology exhibition, an information point, a food area with a sun terrace and children's playground and a small shop with regional farm products.
Opening times for the café:
Beginning of May – end of October
Breakfast served daily from 9:00
Hot food served 11:00 – 19:00
Geology EXHIBITION "UNDERSTANDING LANDSCAPE"
A journey through time – a fascinating geology exhibition that combines science with interactive discovery.
All the stations involve fun tasks that help visitors explore geological topics like tectonics and mountain building, the Gesäuse gorge, glacial periods and soil formation.
Travel back through millions of years accompanied by Sepp, our virtual ranger: test your head for heights on a virtual rock climb, zoom down an Ice Age ski slope, or enjoy a flight over the Gesäuse National Park.
